Love Notes Ministry

Chandler Nazarene Personal Stories 1 Comment

About 20 years ago I attended my cousin’s church (Crossroads) for the 1st & only time. A lady was at the pulpit telling everybody that she was starting a card ministry & wanted card donations. She was going to call it “Love Notes Ministries’! I thought this was a wonderful idea that I could do & loved the name so much…I stole it!

I went home & ordered boxes of cards from Christian Book Distributors. My cousin’s church had too many people for me. I like a smaller church, so I found Chandler First Church of the Nazarene in the phone book & started coming! I told Pastor Clint (who was the pastor at that time) what I wanted to do. He wasn’t too thrilled with the idea, but said it was OK. After I got a mailing list I started mailing cards out to people.

A while later, a friend took me to a Stampin’ Up Party for my birthday! Having always loved to color & having no talent to draw, I was hooked! Had a couple of Stampin’ Up parties where the ladies generously helped me get started with papers, inks, colored pencils & stamps. After this I donated all the boxes of cards I had left to my cousin’s church and started hand making cards instead.

God has grown His “Love Notes” ministry so very much, I now send out 90 encouragement cards a month, plus birthday, anniversary, sympathy & get well cards, and, once in a while, a new baby card or a wedding card. I am so happy to have this Ministry to work on, as it gives me a reason to get up in the mornings.

This story was contributed by Becky Humes, one of our faith family members. If you have been the recipient of the Love Notes ministry cards, please share your thanks in the comments below.

When I was talking to Becky about her ministry, she told me that God always provides what she needs to continue, through unexpected funds and donations. God is so good!

  1. Miss Becky-
I have been blessed to receive many of your hand made cards & notes over the years, & I want you to know that getting one has always brightened my day and made me thankful for you and your commitment to bringing a positive “love note” into someone’s day. I thank God that you are faithful to your ministry and that you are so talented in what you do. My prayer is that you will continue to bring blessings to many via something as foundational & simple as a personal note in the mail. Thank you. I love you.
