In Matthew 25, Jesus tells a parable about how God views his followers. To the ones he chooses to receive their inheritance, he says, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”(v. 35-36) When they questioned these occurrences, Jesus replies, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (v. 40)
God wants us to engage with the world, care for the needy, and provide loving guidance to unbelievers. Get involved in one or more of these outreach ministries for opportunities to serve God by serving others.
Additional Outreach Ministries & Opportunities to Give
Hartford Elementary School Partnership – The CCN family collects books for summer reading in May. Some of our members read to Hartford school students once a week through the BookPals program!
Neighborhood Ministry – CCN partners with Park Manors neighborhood leaders to host various events throughout the year, including cleanup days, G.A.I.N events, and meetings. Our members often volunteer and attend these events. We also host a church-sponsored Fall Festival in October and Egg Hunt / Family Breakfast on Easter Sunday.
Narcotics Anonymous – CCN is the primary meeting site for the nightly local Narcotics Anonymous meetings. They meet in a room on the Flint Street side of the church Sunday through Friday at 7 PM and Saturday at noon. They also meet at 7 PM on the first and third Saturdays of the month for Basic Text Study.
Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL Group) – CCN is a meeting site for weekly PAL Group meetings. They meet in a room on the Flint Street side of the church every Thursday evening at 7 PM.
Mission of Mercy (MOM) Free Primary Health Care Mobile Clinic – Mission of Mercy free medical clinics are held in the CCN Gym (Flint Street side of the church) on the first and third Friday of each month from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. LINKS Missionary – We support international missions by praying for, encouraging, and sending financial support to our LINKS missionary. We currently support missionaries to Ecuador, Jon and Shirley Fischer, (blog: http://fischerministry.weebly.com/, email: firstname.lastname@example.org); and retired missionaries to France, Pastor Dave and Carolita Fraley (email: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org). Crisis Care Kits – Crisis Care Kits (CCKs) are a cooperative effort between Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Incorporated (NCMI) and Nazarene Missions International (NMI). Each local church is challenged to provide at least 1 banana box of kits each year. Watch this news story to find out more about how CCKs bless people in need.
